Better Cotton Initiative (BCI)

The Better Cotton Initiative (BCI) is an international label promoting sustainability in cotton production, addressing environmental, social, and economic concerns. It is awarded to cotton producers who adhere to strict criteria regarding responsible natural resource management, decent working conditions, and respect for workers’ rights.

Cotton Made in Africa (CmiA)

Issued by the Aid by Trade Foundation (AbTF))

The Cotton Made in Africa (CmiA) certification is a globally recognized standard for sustainably produced African cotton. It links smallholder African farmers with cotton traders and fashion brands throughout the global textile value chain.

Benin produces CmiA-certified cotton in four of its ginning facilities, totaling nearly 70,000 tonnes of fiber.
